The Licensing Act of 2003 transfers the responsibility for licensing to local authorities, and introduces a requirement for a Premises Licence (in addition to a personal licence). The act has 4 fundamental objectives: prevention of crime and disorder, promotion of public safety, prevention of public nuisance & protection of children from harm. From 24th November 2005 all premises serving alcohol, offering late night hot food, or providing regulated entertainment will require a new licence. All applications must include a premise plan at 1:100 including certain stipulated information including: · Perimeter of premises, including rooms, kitchens & public conveniences. · Entry & egress from premises including escape routes. · Area for each licensable activity, including areas for the consumption of alcohol. · Location and height of any stage or raised area, steps, stairs, lifts etc. · Fixed structures including fixed furniture. · Location and type of any fire safety equipment and other safety equipment.
